Annabelle

Annabelle has reached the age of 10 1/2 years. At this point I’ve taken the difficult decision to ask Annabelle to stay home and enjoy retirement. It’s been such an honor to have her as my co-counselor these many years.

Book Recommendation

I’m reading this now. I like to compare a straight and level path to a more strenuous hike in a hilly wood. One is predictable-you can see ahead to your destination and there are few surprises. It’s not too taxing, but at times can seem monotonous.

The other way is a trail that leads you up and down and twists this way and that. At times the uphill seems too hard, but then you get to celebrate the achievement as you coast downward. At times the view is obstructed and you have to make assumptions that sometimes need revision. This trail requires flexibility, but it’s almost never boring.

SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions)

SPACE is a parent-based treatment for childhood anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder that has been found to be as efficacious as individual cognitive-behavioral therapy.

I offer this modality in particular to parents of very young children.
